Laser on a cruise: sun, sea and safety
Strong sun on deck and glare off the sea can make pigment worse after some lasers. That changes which laser makes sense mid-cruise.
Quick answer:
On a cruise, gentle lasers such as Laser Genesis or low-energy pico toning can be done with strict sun protection afterwards. Strong pigment removal, mole and tattoo removal and resurfacing lasers are usually postponed to a land trip, because treated skin needs shade and careful aftercare for days.
Why sun matters after laser
Freshly treated skin reacts more to UV light. Hours on deck, beach excursions and reflected glare increase the chance of redness or post-inflammatory pigment, especially after strong pigment lasers.
Usually fine mid-cruise
- Laser Genesis: warming laser with no downtime.
- Pico toning at gentle settings, with strict SPF.
- Excel V or Vbeam at gentle settings for redness.
Better on a land trip
- One-day blemish removal and mole removal: small wounds under patches.
- Tattoo removal: crusting for one to two weeks.
- UltraClear and Potenza: several days of redness and flaking.
